Raising Patient Voices: Become a Patient Advisor

Putting Patients at the heart of research

Your experiences and priorities are crucial to align research with real-world needs. The HOMA research project directly reflects EFHPA’s core mission of putting patients at the heart of healthcare. By becoming a Patient Advisor on this project, you can help ensure research addresses what matters most to patients.

Global involvement

The project will involve patients from around the world to ensure a truly global perspective. This ground-breaking approach actively engages patients as contributors, not as research subjects, helping to produce high-quality, patient-centred reviews that are both scientifically robust and easy to understand.

The HOMA project

The HOMA project will undertake a series of systematic reviews to evaluate the clinical efficacy, effectiveness, and safety of Homeopathic Medicinal Products in the treatment and prevention of approximately eleven health conditions.

We will start with the following conditions:

  • Wound healing, subscription started.
  • Menopause, subscription deadline extended to 5th May, 2026.
  • Childhood diarrhoea (acute – lasting a week or less with 3 or more stools per day). Subscription is now closed.
  • Musculoskeletal, such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, etc, subscription deadline 6 April 2026 closed.

Become a Patient Advisor
We are looking for patients that have undergone treatment for the topics being reviewed. Treatment can take any form – conventional medicine or TCIH approaches. Is that you or someone you know?

Participation of the Patient Advisor is:

  • Anonymous – Researchers will not ask for any personal or health information
  • Voluntary – you can stop at any time.
  • Advisory only – this is not research involving human participants. Your feedback helps us improve how we communicate results to the public and patients.
  • Responses will be used for developing and improving the presentation of the review findings.
  • Time commitment is minimal – approx. 15 minutes per feedback round for a total of 30 minutes.

Strengthen and Standardise Patient Involvement

A key objective of the HOMA Project is to strengthen and standardise patient involvement across all systematic reviews, in partnership with EFHPA. For each health condition, several patients will serve as advisors, supporting the project by contributing to:

  • The selection of meaningful outcomes and patient-centred priorities.
  • Ensuring clarity, understanding, and accessibility of the reviews
  • Assessing relevance and real-world meaning of the findings

Patient involvement is key

The EFHPA project team is committed to genuine and sustained patient participation, ensuring that the reviews reflect lived experience and are useful to patients, clinicians, and the wider community.

Patients who wish to share their perspectives are warmly encouraged to contact us.

Patient Advisor participation timeline

The project will run for 2 years and cover 12 indications. You do not need to have been treated with homeopathy. We are seeking patients that have experience of being treated and living with the conditions below.
